Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is a variation on conventional plastic injection molding that allows the fabrication of solid metal parts using injection molding technology. In this process, the raw material, mentioned to as the feedstock, is a powder mixture of metal and polymer. For this reason, MIM is sometimes mentioned to as Powder Injection Molding (PIM). By a standard injection molding machine, the powder is melted and injected into a mold, where it cools and solidifies into the shape of the preferred part. Furthermore, some of the metals used to produce MIM parts range from low alloy steels and nickel alloys, to cobalt alloys and stainless steels. A process is used to making components for surgical instruments, electronics and a wide selection of consumer applications, fittings and ornaments, medical equipment and other precision instrument components and various other applications.

Metal Injection Molding Market Outlook

Demand from emerging economies, advancement in technology and increasing demand from automotive industry, healthcare industries are some of the factors driving the metal injection molding market. However, volatility in raw material prices and expensive for small production capacities are the factors hampering the metal injection molding market.
